"I would sit down and memorize pages word for word"
Why am I crying? 😭 Such a beautiful story
Your words are inspiring. I was wondering what are your thoughts on students going for medicine, after getting a BA rather than a traditional BS. For the accelerated program you speak about, is it possible to apply with a BA?
He’s the hottest man on earth 🤯 🤤
This video made me feel unstoppable. Thanks!
Doctor Mike now u have to pleaaaseee post a video on how it felt when u dissected the human body for the 1st time... Pleaaseeee... Ive seen ppl faint nd stuff so yea......
This was very inspirational thank you ❤️❤️
Super helpful! Thank you so much! I am a bit late on my journey, but your words have inspired me to apply myself to field that I am passionate for: psychology. Becoming a psychiatrist is going to take a lot of time, effort, and it is a field that is ever changing, but I am ready to face these hardships and the looks of “you’re crazy for wanting to study for a decade!” I love studying and I love a good challenge, so I am willing to work hard for this! 🌱💫
your tie is too long in this vid

I’m a singaporean so my exams ar different from yours. I want to tell my storyI was a shit student in primary school(7-12 years old)and I did badly,I got 180/300 which put me in the normal academic stream instead of the express stream which 70% of what my country took. I was looked down on called stupid, useless, all brawl no brain and a fuck up. I studied hard and got into express which was a very hard choice to do and I got into pure sciences(Only TOP few students get it)I never seen myself as a doctor but after looking at this ,I realised I was making the wrong decision of taking physics instead of biology. I wanted to save people, tell them what’s wrong, end people’s years of suffering from dieseases. But I’m not a A student. I was only A in normal academic but I should do what I love, I don’t know what to do with my life now.
I suck at chemistry do i still want to be a surgeon???
The test is called mcat it’s like sat just for med school and it’s not all about bio or chem or physics
No one can tell you if you Want to be a surgeon that’s on you but if your question is “I suck at chemistry and I still want to be a surgeon” well it doesn’t matter that you are not good in chemistry cuz for your first 4 years at the normal college you don’t have to major in chem or bio or physics for example last year economics majors scored highest on the med school test I don’t know what’s it called I forgot but I’ll put it down below
This is a great video!! I am a clinical education coordinator for LECOM, all the advice given in this video is solid advice!! We do an outreach program with high school students in our area (Upstate NY - like way upstate) , that are on the track to pursuing a career in medicine. I may have to tell my 4th-year students who manage the outreach program, to have the kids watch this video as part of their lecture series.
Props to your dad Mike, SERIOUSLY.
great journey...i m preparing for my residency....can u pls tell me ur step 1 score....and abt gunners... yeah glad i m not one...ty
*Be sure to have a social life? A **_social life?_** Are you insane? I saw practically nobody but my wife (and colleagues/patients) from the beginning of college thru my PGY-II years! In my PGY-III year I had the first time availabilities that allowed me a **_limited_** social life!**Oh, and I would never have survived without Kaplan!*(Measl PGY-37)
Very honest video, good job. I'm a sophomore in high school and I have a passion with anything to do with medicine, human body, and biology. I hope I make it into med school. My dream! I liked and subbed.
Although I'm hoping to become a veterinarian, much of this still applies, if not all. Thank you so much for sharing!
this was a nice video. I am not going into medical school after I finish my bachelors degree, but I found this video helpful for any career.
Does it often happen that people apply to a lot of schools and don’t get into any of them?
I love the video. Can you please give tips on staying healthy during med school. I've either lost A LOT of weight during the last 5 years and now I'm gaining A LOT of weight as I am studying for post graduation 🙄😂
Do content like this agaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm wanting to go into the medical field but I feel like I've waited too long to start in it, if I am a senior in high school and havent taken any classes in medicine, what should I do to get myself into the field of medicine or is it even still an option?
😂😂 I chose to major in science bcuz i liked a certain medical show while in highschool, well thank God i wasnt accepted in med school bcuz that would have drove me mad, I wish doctor Mike was there to tell me that was not enough of a good reason
I actually ask my mom to help me memorize
I like how you explained it doc! Now I am more motivated to really pursue medicine in the future! 😘
Tu camisa me distrae!!! Jajajaja
This giving me nursing school flashbacks 😂
Thanks a lot
This doc has no nips!
OML I love you
I adore you! Are you single? Lol I have a GORGEOUS, smart, funny, absolutely incredible Niece I would love to introduce you to 😉 She is the total package, just like you. Lmk!😆😍
6:12 to 8:09 is the best advice that I got on this video. Those who are in doubt of choosing a medical course in college should hear about this.
You're so down to Earth! Thanks for sharing about your journey!
Can't help but notice how Mike goes through videos even 1/2 years old and tries to heart/like recent comments on those videos. You can tell he really cares.
My ex left me because he said he is becoming craziest in med school. He left me bevause of med school as a reason. I've waited him for 7 years and he left me just like a trashed.
Hey Dr. Mike, I'm afraid I'm going to be too old for med school by the time I'm financially ready for school. Any tips? How old is too old to start and be a resident? Thank you so much!
Dr. Mike works hard but his shirt works way harder
I loved hearing your story about your dad being in his forties going to medical school. I am anurse, mother of two, and am thinking about going to D. O. School. I have loved medicine since I was 8. Thank you for sharing!
My ultimate dream is to become a doctor but parents couldn't afford my ambition :( I wish someone would help me out
Honestly changed my view on alot of things . Keep it up n thank you
Thanks for this Video...Can I ask you something? If is possible to become a Doctor, a E.N.T, being a Cuban who came to the US 2 years ago, ready to start College, without help from my parents, and earning 1500 per month , living in Miami and have to pay rent and more??? I always wanted to be a E.N.T and I’m not afraid but i don’t have support...😩Thank you 🙏🏻
hey doctor mike, I'm in highschool right now and I know that I want to be a doctor.I have a question, would it help if I got any volunteer oppourtunites at a hospital in high school?
Varshita Ummadi, I know you’re asking Dr. Mike, but as a pre-med undergrad myself, I can say definitely! The more volunteering, the more shadowing you do, that’s how you get experience. You will not only visually see how being a doctor is like but you’re also learning. You get to experience what being in a medical setting is like. Plus, it is something you will be able to put in your resumes, cover letters, essays, personal statements, etc.So yes, definitely go for it! :)I will be taking a gap year after I graduate next summer and in that time frame, I am hoping to apply as a medical scribe. It is one of the better options in gaining experience in a medical setting as well as working with doctors and physicians.
Watch it on 1.75x, guys he's drunkkkk!!!!!
Can a DO degree get you a spot in specialized surgery? E.g Heart surgery
