Aren't, you know, MOST car companies named after their founders? Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin, Maserati, Holden, Citroen, Holden, Toyota...
Hoovie sent me, get well soon...
no winners . just losers
Uggg fact check some information! Bricklins never had a Chrysler engine! First series had the AMC 360
Malcomn Bricklin, the man whose mission in life was to make everyone walk to work and John DeLorean, the man who developed the Pntiac Fiero which should have been named the Fuego for it's tendency to spontaneously combust.
This Bricklin still has original hydraulic door system which is junk. The air door system works much better and doors open and close in about 2 seconds, compared to the 8 seconds for the hydraulic system. Also, the '75 Bricklins have no power in the Ford 351 which is 175hp compared to the '74 Bricklins with the AMC 360 which has 220hp. Bricklins weigh nearly 4,000 lbs, which very heavy for a car its size because of the steel wrap around frame. Would like to see a factory manual '74 Bricklin used in this video instead, but are hard to come by, as about 122 manual cars out of 772 during 1974. The Bricklin is the first car in automotive history to have self opening doors. Car makers of today are just now putting in some suv's and mini vans today. Neither car was intended to be fast and neither are. The Delorean is a copy cat off the Bricklin to begin with. To me, Bricklin has more flair and style and self opening doors at a touch of a button and roll down windows. A DeLorean has none of those. .Deloreans have nicer interiors and better body material though. I'd take both these cars over a boring ass Corvette any day. a car any has-been can have.
Praying for Drew. 🙏🙏🙏 https://www.wibw.com/content/news/TPD-Manhattan-man-critically-hurt-in-Heartland-Park-crash-507951861.html
Bricklins are so rare now. I think less than 1700 of them exist still and only 3000 were ever made.
Weirdly, both the Bricklin and the DeLorean were originally conceived as "safety vehicles" (the original codename for the DeLorean was "DSV-12", later changed to DMC-12 and then dropped altogether), despite the fact that both designs had the automobile industry's second-most-questionable door type.* The Bricklin walked the walk a little better, with its weird bumpers and availability only in hi-vis "safety colors", but neither one was really particularly safer than any normal car, apart from being so underpowered they could barely go fast enough to be dangerous.* After suicide doors, which are cool, but called that for good reason.
I could've sworn I just saw a car listing for that Bricklin, pretty much 1:1 with the one in this video. Interestin car though! I love it
DeLorean driving instructions:Nose it out of the driveway and it follows the white lines by itself.
First I'd like to say that it's really not a fair comparison, a 1980 car vs a 1975 car. Secondly even with its flaws ( and there are many) I still pick the bricklin because of how easy the car could be modified into something so much more having a basic front engine setup like most muscle cars.... and of which is being done with a lot of respectable muscle cars these days ( like standard drum to power disc brakes on cars like old chevelle and camaros etc ) ... theres not a lot of easy upgrading the performance on a rear engine Renault v6 that's in a Delorean now is there.?.. p.s. I do own a orange 75 sv1 Bricklin.
It's kind of stupid that you bought a DeLorean now, because "new" ones are still being made.
I'll tell you a land Yahat lol a 90'-93' Mercedes w124
Nice to see Harry Styles is keeping himself busy nowadays.
Just because it's a 360 does not make it a Chrysler. It was powered by AMC
The DeLorean actually seemed relatively quick for its low horse power and age. Put some coil overs, better engine swap, maybe a turbo k20 swap or some other FWD engine/transmission combination so its all oriented right. some chassis stiffening, sway bars, and I think it would be a lot closer to the sports car John wanted when designing it.
I think you need to drive my Bricklin. There's something wrong with that one if it can't outrun a Delorean. The Bricklin was tested by Autoweek and it outperformed the 1975 Corvette in acceleration handling and breaking. Most Bricklins have been fitted with faster more reliable air powered doors and air powered headlights. That's the problem with all original Bricklins they need a few upgrades to make them a car you can drive all day. The upgrades don't take away from the originality it just makes them better. Once again I invite you to drive my Bricklin. 😎
I don't think it was clear if they were launching on the 3, 4, or 5 horn. If Hoover used the 4th horn to go, he is slightly slower than average (0.5 sec reaction). If he waited to see the Bricklin moving, he reacted in 0.25 sec, which is about half the reaction time of the average drag racer.

Ireland is in the United Kingdom? I thought that was great Britain,.
Honestly, why doesn't this have many views??? It needs more because this is awesome 🔥
The Bricklin looks better though.
Other than some "custom" vans, I don't think I've ever seen shag carpeting in a car. Perhaps you don't know what shag carpet is - it has very long/high pile, like 3/4 of an inch long or more.
Deloreans are hopefully going to be made in 2019 again they will look the same however they will be new , with 300-400hp engines the problem with the original delorean being a flop was it was under powered , also the brakes upgraded with wider wheels needed , and air ducting will be changed
The fucc is a bricklin?!
You could time both of these in the 1/4 mile with a calendar. I raced a DMC-12 in high school with a 1982 Chevy S-10 V6 5sp. Not even close. Marty would never get to 88mph.
I thought the deloren had a Chevy 350 or 305 one of the 2
I think the Delorean was built in Ireland Hoovie.
Two infamously shitty yet iconic gullwing 80s sports cars drag racing each other? YES.
Let's see if he could do 90
For some reason that delorean sounded like a countach to me in that drag race
northern ireland is just ireland for losers
The Bricklins never had "Chrysler engine's" they had AMC 360's...
Canada & the UK are not unusual places to build cars. But we're not talking the English midlands and southern Ontario here. Northern Ireland and New Brunswick however are very unusual places indeed.
If you paint the orange one silver and put a dmc on it it would be an early model
In really no shape no horn or windows
1st off I have seen people race these car before as a joke and the bricklin usually won. Probably cause your buddy can't drive or the car has issues. Which neither seem to be in a great condition so I suspect condition. If you're going to race ya gotta swap drivers to make sure it's the car that won.
"Dont know how you'd get out if it rolled over". No not the 4 giant holes where glass used to be............
its more fun to drive a slow vehicle fast than it is to drive a fast vehicle slow. By that i mean its more fun to drive a low horsepower slower car w a manual such as this delorean at regular speeds because you're gonna be grinding through those gears rather than driving a fast car like the 450hp vette he mentioned in highway speeds cuz u know the car is capable of much more
Those windows are called hand crank or manual windows
The Bricklin looks like a modified vette from the front.
Holy fuck! A Bricklin? I haven’t seen one of those since 1987!Nice!
French motor in the DMC? I thought those were surplus volvo powerplants. Complete DOGS.
5:05 the horn should be on the end of one of the control sticks on the steering column.
I know the Bricklan has a lot of issues but you can fix them, it has a V8.
