    Many of you have been asking since the channel began for me to make a video that helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. Insomnia is a huge problem and I totally understand that. There are also a ton of how to fall asleep faster or how to stay asleep videos out there but I feel too many of them are not evidence-based nor even really expert based.

    These sleep routine tips and bedroom hacks, including swapping out synthetic for cotton sheets, will help you get the ZZZZZs you need to take on the day; and the best part is that the power to improve your sleep and beat your insomnia is right in your hands!

    Just so you know I can talk about sleep for hours so if there is a specific question of yours on sleep that has been left unanswered please jump into the comments section and I will do my best to respond right there or in my monthly responding to comments video!

                I am not a doctor, but if you are healthy and dont have a sickness which makes you very sleepy (Like problems with your thyroid) then you are sleepy, because you simply sleep too much. Keep in mind what we learned in physics class from the principle of inertia: *A body in motion stays in motion, a body in rest stays in rest.* So don't stay too long in rest. Force yourself to wake up after 8 hours of sleep with an alarm. At first its gonna be hard. But when you get used to it and start doing stuff after waking up (no smartphone, computer, video games) you most likely will 1) sleep naturally less without an alarm and 2) Be less sleepy over the day.

                            Two questions for you, Dr. Mike.

                            1. I work third shift 4 nights a week. Do I stay awake during the night on my days off and sleep during the day every day or can I sleep at night on my days off? Any helpful tips on how to sleep better for third sift people would be great.

                            2. You stated cotton sheets for better sleep, but what about bamboo sheets? I just bought a set of real bamboo sheets for my new bed/mattress and now I see this video for better sleep. My new sheets are so soft. The sheets seem to keep me cool during my sleep. What is your opinion about them?

                                What about people who work night shifts (3rd shift) like me. I gotta try sleeping 💤 during the day & sometimes sleep is quite difficult due to daylight shining so bright into my bedroom and the blinds DO NOT help.

                                          How do i keep myself awake at night? From a very young age my mom made us sleep by 9pm. Now 28 yo adult i cant pass 9.30 no matter how much i tried to stay awake. My kids go to bed at 9 and finally i have some alone time with my husband but there i am passed out with the kids. I really need to sleep at least by 11. I woke up at 7 so there's plenty of sleep. Please help me

                                            You forgot to touch on sleep apnea and idiopathic insomnia. Missing the symtoms of sleep apnea or not treating it can have major consequences. Also none of the advice will help unfortunately because when a person has sleep apnea they could sleep 12 hours and it would make no difference. I almost forgot narcolepsy. You should do a video on these! One huge thing to know is children should not snore! That is a big sign they could have sleep apnea.

                                                                                          At 2:08 you talked about coffee's half life. Half life doesn't mean two half lives get rid of the whole. It's a concentration dependent rate of change.
