Very beautiful, very nice but at 2,300 bucks that is way too much.
I built a 6 wide besta ikea tv stand wall mounted and fully vented for under a grand with glass doors. No way this is worth the price but it’s good for people not wanting to hack and customs do their tv setup. It’s easy to add ventilation to a tv stand if you know what you’re doing.
Ross Huey keep that piece till you die. It’s not for me. I wanted a fully custom made part the way I wanted it to look. I needed 140” of space for all my stuff. Again, it will last as long as I want. I don’t prefer this look. I like black glass doors. I have fans throughout.
@scotty miller I reinforced nothing and it will last me till I die if I want it to. Also didn't have to vent anything as it came fully vented. If you think anything from Ikea will ever compete with something like the BDI cabinet, you're crazy. And I've had plenty of Ikea furniture.
Will last as long as you treat it well. It’s not like it just falls apart over time. I reinforced everting.
And that besta is made of shit particle board and won't last nearly as long as this.
As an Industrial Designer, I deeply appreciate the little details in objets such as this.
When a cabinet is twice the price of your high-end TV from last year, it isn't even worth considering. No thanks, I'll take a cheap Ikea one instead and do some work on it myself.
@thenonexistinghero and I got this media console for sub $2000 delivered and it will last me for my next 5 TVs at least. So no, this isn't twice the price of an even on sale high end TV.
@Ross Huey You can get a previous year's high-end TV for $1500 or so without much effort.
High end TVs start at $2K and break $3k without much effort. And this will last the life of multiple high end TVs. Thousand dollar TVs are not high end.
i dont like iti have a center channel and i dont want it to be behind a window
I hope for that price the cunt comes already made
It's very overpaid
You need to be FIRED.How DEFT can you actually be?Between stating TVs don’t have eARC when they obviously do, shamelessly shilling for Sony on their garbage 950G TV, putting as a “con” on the website review that this year’s C9 OLEDs are more expensive then the C8s, when in actuality the entire line came in at a lower MSRP (the 77 inch for example has a USD 2K lower MSRP at launch then the C8 did) and make an ADVERTISEMENT video for a goddamn $2000 piece of furniture no one in their right mind should ever buy, it’s completely clear that you are terrible at your job, maliciously steering people in the wrong direction with your shameless shill plugs and misinformation. You are a COMPLETE DISGRACE to this industry.
How about you guys do a video using an example that most of the viewers can actually afford?
Gorgeous cabinet, great design, and quality materials. With a price to match, but if you want quality, you have to pay for quality. Wish I'd seen this two weeks ago, I'd have bought it immediately! Hopefully the console I did buy will work well enough for me.(If you don't care about fine solid wood furniture, by all means, head straight to IKEA, and spend your money on something else. Nothing wrong with that. But also nothing wrong with wanting to buy something that will last longer than a couple years, and look truly fantastic the entire time, either.)
I recently got the lower height version of this exact piece of furniture and it is hands down the best furniture purchase I have ever made. They run a 15% off sale a couple times a year which brings down the cost a decent amount too. I can't recommend this piece enough. Yes, it's expensive but you'll have it forever and will outlast the many TV's that will be on top of it.
its nice to see such vids from time to time. to be honest, my interior designer did not want a media cabinet at all :) but this one looks nice
If you're thinking about mounting your television and are primarily looking for a cabinet for media storage and/or appearance, you could also consider the Corridor SV. It's a slim profile, with many of the same features, and comes as a double or a quad sized cabinet:https://www.bdiusa.com/collections/corridorThanks!
I have an amazing modular Ikea BESTA Media stand. You can customize it. with doors, draws open and closed. or just shelves like what i did :) You buy the frame. then buy shelves, draws, doors separately. I think i spent just over $200auTo think i was going to have one custom made. Ikea already had me covered :)In my Media Stand i put my XBOX ONE X Standing PS4 PRO Standing PS2 Standing NINTENDO SWITCH.XBOX,XBOX 360,PS3,PS1,PS2 SLIM,SEGA MASTER SYSTEM 2,SEGA MEGADRIVE 2,SEGA MEGADRIVE,SEGA SATURN,SEGA DREAM CAST,Nintendo Entertainment System,Super Nintendo,N64,Nintendo WIIU, Atari 2600. and surround sound. Ikea does have holes in the back for cable management. Theres room to breath for everything,Room for more shelfsI got 60inch 4k 8000 series Samsung. I just bought Q90R 65inch so waiting for that to come. will have it wall mounted...I can game till i cant game no more!Love the show.PS have you got a XBOX ONE X yet ":"
Can you be more specific. BDI makes 3 different Corridor models: 8173, 8179, and SV 7129
Hi Kenneth,Thanks for your questions! This model is the award-winning Corridor 8179, which is a more spacious unit and ideal for larger home theater systems. The 8173 is very similar, however, it's a lower profile for those who like their cabinets closer to the floor (more modern/Danish aesthetic, with low couches, etc.).The SV is a slim profile and is perfect for those who have a more streaming-based or compact set-up (aka not intended to house large AV components) for gaming consoles, AppleTV/FireTV, soundbar, etc. Thanks again for asking!
I noticed the Anthem MRX 1120 receiver in the console, have you guys done a full review on this receiver as yet? Is this the receiver that you guys use to test speakers?Would like to know your thoughts. If you have can you provide a link so I can watch.
My TV/entertainment center is in a corner so unfortunately this wouldn't work. I need something where the TV can rotate. Plus as beautiful as this stand is it is way too far out of my budget.
Hi Marty,You could consider the Corridor 8175, which is specifically designed to fit in a corner:https://www.bdiusa.com/products/corridor-corner-media-cabinet-8175In terms of swivel, we also offer two TV mounts, one which can be installed on the cabinet itself, and another that is free standing: https://www.bdiusa.com/entertaining/tv-mountsThanks!
“260 lbs. unboxed and 230 lbs. boxed” how does that work? You lose the packaging weight when unboxing a product.
216, not 260.
Looks amazing but way out of my budget unfortunately.
Yah right 2899.99 I've been doing carpentry for over 10 years there ripping you off
paul woodward people pay a lot to have ventilation. Something anyone can do with a few tools and a brain.
Thanks for this.I'm always wowed by those beautiful white KEF floorstanders.Any chance of a video introducing them, and your audio set up.(Seems you had different speakers a year ago)
I like it, didn't know it could roll as well. That price though 👀
Thanks, Chris. The hidden wheels are a really nice feature found on many of our cabinets, making it a lot easier to move it away from the wall and access connections through the sliding/removable rear-access panels, which also help with the flow-through ventilation that keeps gaming consoles and AV components cool. It's a thoroughly thought-through and engineered design. :)
Cool stuff but a tad too tall for my taste
Hi Nick,If you like the Corridor design, but prefer a lower profile, we also offer the Corridor 8173:https://www.bdiusa.com/products/corridor-low-media-cabinet-8173It is much lower to the floor, for those who prefer a more low/modern aesthetic. Thanks!
Its a great looking/ functional stand but for over $2k its not affordable for your average consumer. I rather spend that extra cash elsewhere ie getting the best TV, Speakers, audio receiver etc.Its like building a gaming PC with a case that cost $2k , makes no sense.
Really like it, but for the price i prefer buying a nice tv, now it has the same price as my oled😱😂
That stand cost 4 times more than my 49" Samsung NU8000 tv
Save yourself a lot of money and build your own or get a friend or family to build one for you. My brother built my unit for me with proper strong wood (not mdf or chipboard) which cost €400. If I was to buy it , it would have cost 3x the money because its 8' talll by 3' wide.
Or I could buy an OLED. Or a used car. $2300 is a no.
260 pounds unboxed 230 boxed? It's not a stand it's a science experiment!!!
Arvind G I thought the same thing. This tv stand defys the laws of physics and mass density.
This is what we call TGDE = TOO GOD DAMN EXPENSIVE as YouTuber Floss Carter would say 😂 - CALM DOWN WITH THE PRICES BDI
A new Tv stand is all I need to get my setup perfect I won't be looking for glass TV stand though. movers might break it when I move out lol!
But it’s an ugly stand.
What.... I don’t want DOORS covering my amp, center speakers and game consoles. Sorry dude, you can’t just recommend 1 style to everyone, people have different preferences. For me this stand is terrible, simply bc I don’t want doors!
I just reread the video title, the tile DOESNT match what you’re talking about. Come on man.
F*CK THAT!!! It'll cost more than the tv setting on it, too much money!!!!😲😲😲😲
IT should be better than a Ikea stand..hell it cost around $1500 to $2000 more...That said, I want that Oppo 203 @ 2:56
Any thoughts on Salamander Designs
Good review. But lost me at glass top, not to mention the link does not sell them or even give you prices. (If it is that hard to find a retailer, why even bother with a review?)
You can find a retailer near you, including at many Best Buy Magnolia Design Centers at https://www.bdiusa.com/retailers, in addition to many online retailers like Wayfair. The glass is an incredibly smooth and durable black satin-etched tempered top. Thanks!
Acoustically transparent? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who does this guy take us for?
@scotty miller it's a center channel... They don't need that much porting and it has plenty of room to accommodate that speaker with no issue. There also front ported center channels.
Ross Huey confining speakers to a small space doesn’t give them optimal sound. It’s just a fact. Sure it might sound ok but it’s not doing the speaker any justice hiding behind a door or in a small space. I’d love to see the graphs of a 20-20k sweep both in the cabinet and outside the cabinet. No way they are the same.
@scotty miller there is more than enough venting and air flow to let all your equipment breathe and not over heat in this cabinet. It's vented front to back and top to bottom. And I used a decibel meter to measure sound with the center channel both in and on top of it and there wasn't a single difference.
Sure keep that speaker screen on. Sure put it behind a door with some slats. Sure you’ll hear stuff but it is acoustical transparent. No. Let your stuff breath
It is. There is more than enough room between the slats on the front door where the sound does not get impeded at all by them. I calibrated my system in this very same cabinet and having the center channel on top vs inside made literally zero difference.
Over 2k!! Gtfo no where near the price for the average consumer.
yeha I don't want the TV stand to cost as more tan my TV and stereo put togeather LOL!
I got a great one from restoration hardware.. looks like a real piece of furniture.. serious WAF
But it doesn't have a tv mount built in -_-
Would it be OK to put a soundbar in the cabinet? Or would that ruin/limit the audio?
Yes, it is specifically designed for use with a soundbar or center channel. The louvered wood doors (when closed) allow for sound and remote signal pass-through. The only frequency that can be affected are the highs (tweeter), and we recommend either (1) not placing the tweeter speaker directly behind where the two front doors meet, or (2) increasing the level of your highs slightly to compensate if you feel as though your highs are being muted at all.
I wouldn't buy a soundbar I'd get a slim Stereo receiver/Av receiver with HDMI and some bookshelf speakers, Better sound and look IMO and it will last longer than the soundbar.
