I've had a Note 5 since it came out.
None of the new Notes have offered enough for me to upgrade.
All I've had to do is one battery replacement and remove the ear speaker to clean out some dust build up. Note 5 is a great phone.

Those skins are SICK! Good job on the new device, seriously love my Note 10+.
Some screen tips you may already know, but can help prevent "burn in" from happening too much:
- Have a completely blank home screen where there is only something being displayed when you need it displayed. My home screen is simply black with no "status bar" along the top and I have several gestures and swipes configured for quick access to everything I need as a result of Android 9 and Nova Launcher.
- Keep the display on the absolute lowest possible brightness at almost all times, only brightening it when necessary.
- Use the BlackBerry Keyboard APK file for 2 reasons. One being it's always in 'dark mode' and shouldn't leave such a noticeable mess on the display and the other being how much less screen real estate the keyboard occupies when typing (if configured properly to not have the top function bar showing). Plus it's actually the best virtual keyboard available. Has swipe to delete, swipe words up using the fantastic predictive text engine that eventually "learns you" - lol

exactly the same problems with my S8, but i like it very much and I have it for 2.5 years now, but I switched to p30 pro.
My last phone was the S8. My new phone is the Note 10+

Same reason I still use my iPhone se 2017 ! Why would I upgrade ? New iPhone still have the awful notch ! And pixel 4 would be a downgrade to my iPhone se 2017
So till Apple release the iPhone se 2020 wireless no port and Screen up and down similar to pixel 4 (at worst )I ll keep my iPhone se 2017
