Player after player speak of Coach in almost reverential terms. All consider their time with him as instrumental in the success they achieved in life.
The difference between winning and succeeding has to do more with the nature of your situation; either a competition or an endeavour.
Much of my personal strives for winning is fuelled by the unease that I've had to face because of a third person's incompetence, coupled with the lack of an ability to make up for what wrong they have done. Their continued interference in personal business matters, and much much more of what could be, at the very least, described as an utter nuisance and inconvenience. The sheer magnitude of frustration alone has crippled personal progress for days on end. Furthermore, there consistent attempts to misdirect other offers for assistance in lieu of their bs interest or to alter my surroundings in a way as to keep revisiting an older premise of an argument has left me with an extensive desire to express myself by altering their own facial geometry.
Great stuff... tremendous wisdom from a fantastic gentleman❤️

SINCE HIS TIME , WINNING SEEMS TO HAVE BECOME LESS & LESS EQUATED WITH TRUE SUCCESS.....ALMOST BY LIGHT YEARS , INS COME INSTANCES......
ALTHOUGH IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIND POSITIVE IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION....
College sports ....lol...who can pay what kid the most money, not get caught, and pull it off with the most BS. ...lol...what a load of crap, just pay the kids outright.
Winning ....pay the best players in the country the most money....then become philosophical
Its absolutely amazing how astute and clear speaking Mr. Wooden is at this time in his life. I’m utterly amazed, and that much more impressed by him as a whole. He is the GOAT of coaches!
One of the RARE individuals that I very truly respect and admire and look up to.
Too bad he had to be a part of the most corrupt basketball program of all time...
fortunate enough to spend 2-3 weeks a year with this man, for 4 or 5 years...Enough said...when in his presence, a humble caring soul....very well times with him, I listened, and listened. ..why speak...as a coach, his principles a re a constant reminder of real successs....I am very fortunate. ...
A man of wisdom and character. I could listen to this man for hours on end!
The written word and spoken plea verse mentioned is from the poem "Education" by Arthur Guiterman 1935 in case anyone is wondering. :-) I love the internet!
I probably watched this about 100 times by now, it’s 2019 and the year is almost over. I’m sure I’m still gonna watch it, I love the humility and discipline he portrays. Every time I had an interview or test, I would watch this to gain motivation and confidence, to always do my best and not compare my self to others but yet learn from others. “The road ahead or the road behind”
Happy Belated Birthday to the Wizard of Westwood the late John Robert Wooden.10-14-1910.IN
What an astounding and inspirational individual....and I stumbled upon him by accident.
Simple goals, simple ideas, simple rules for life....
There should be a required course in everyone's required curriculum on John Wooden. This man is incredible.
How his mind is so sharp and how fast his thoughts come out? No hesitation! Bc it came from the heart? Might make a great coach.
Nobody would care what John Wooden had to say if Sam Gilbert hadn't bought him the best players while John looked the other way.
John Wooden is one of the wisest men I have ever met. A major reason Coach Wooden was so successful was that he coached "the youngsters" whole self, the game was almost secondary.
I love this guy but this speech is so hard to follow. It’s like one damn long run on sentence. Wished he paused once in a while.
timing is proving to others you have respect for them... in my opinion.
Can you imagine coach Wooden having to deal with some of today's baggy pants athletes.
John Wooden was / is the epitome of a coach.....and the epitome of a MAN! GOD BLESS!
A ver quien es el que ama y diga la verdad de lo que pose y que NO ES DE EL O DE ELLA
Son nichos de la verdad y también mucho que se alegra CON poser lo ajeno creado y lo creado tiene nombre y tiene títulos
We can all be like Coach Wooden! I bet he would agree with that. Follow his 3 rules, study how he lived and thought and emulate him. He said that we must have FAITH AND PATIENCE. He was a Saint of God and a man of faith. If I do the best I can to be a man of faith and work hard to develop my character then I too can be successful as Coach Wooden said. I have profound respect for this man who would roll up his program when the game was in hand. He never yelled, acted poorly and respected everyone. What a guy. Thanks Coach Wooden!
Met him, by chance...UCLA, he nodded, he knew I was awed , he smiled Oh so slightly, reminded me so much of my father. He’s a good reason I went to UCLA, ... others... Jackie Robinson, Arthur Ashe, Rafer Johnson, Willard Libby, Dr. Birdsell, Albert Hoxie, many, many others... but HE was such a great teacher... I keep his writings next to my Bible....read every night before turning off the light.
